Views and Issues

1. Government Accountability

a. Mayor's Office. Changing our City Charter to allow for an elected Mayor virus an appointed mayor. The people have the right to hold the Mayor responsible to their actions. As of today the people have no say in who our Mayor is and have no power to hold our Mayor accountable. I will fight to have our Cities Charter changed for the election of an at large Mayor and Vice Mayor.

b. Limited Government. To provide the citizens of Hopewell with a small, limited government. The citizen should be least impacted by the reach of our City Council. If the City Council attempts to pass any ordinance that takes away the liberties and freedoms of the citizen of Hopewell I will always Vote NO. The City Government does not belong in our yards, on our front porch, in our homes, and surely not in our everyday lives. They belong as far away from the citizen.

c. Clear, Open, and Transparent Government. Meeting with the Ward at least 1 per quarter in an open Q and A Forum to here from the citizens of Ward 5, your concern and issue that you the citizen feel are important to you and our city.

Cut wasteful spending. There are thing that a City must spend on, things that are nice to spend on, and things that are never supposed to spend tax dollars on. We must cut out the PORK!

3. Education
I will work with the School Board and our schools to get all of Hopewell's Schools Accredited. We must invest in our children's education. I believe if we praise and award the Schools and Teachers that are preforming and get rid of the dead weight of those that are not, our children's education will flourish and all of our schools will become accredited.

4. Economic Development
I will promote new business coming into Hopewell by allowing all new business to have a 3 year period of no city taxes when they open there business in Hopewell. Will vote NO whenever the City Council wants to give a private business tax payer dollars as they have done to the Beacon, as well as call for the immediate repayable of the loans given to the Beacon and propose those funds be put into the infrastructure of the City. Government does not belong in picking winner and losers in privet business. All of our current business will also flourish with reduction to their taxes.

5. Law Enforcement and Public Safety
The safety of the citizens of Hopewell is paramount. With the savings the city receives from the cut to unnecessary spending, will be transferred to the Hopewell Police Department and Emergency Services, and Public works to improve Hopewell's infrastructure.
